Two Things Determine Where Your Player Fits
Before registering your child for Compton Little League, there are two important things to determine: your player’s League Age and their eligibility to play in Compton Little League.
LEAGUE AGE
Little League uses an official League Age to determine the age groups and divisions in which a player may participate.
Your child’s League Age may not always be the same as their age on the day you register. Little League uses established age-determination rules for each season and program.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
In addition to age requirements, players must meet Little League eligibility requirements to participate in Compton Little League.
Eligibility may be established through a player’s residence, school attendance, or other applicable Little League eligibility provisions.
Knowing both your child’s League Age and player eligibility will help you identify the appropriate program options and prepare for registration.
DETERMINE YOUR LEAGUE AGE
Start With Your Player’s Date of Birth
Little League uses League Age to determine the age divisions in which a player may participate. League Age is based on the player’s birth date and the Little League program in which they participate.
The age-determination dates for baseball and softball are different, so parents should use Little League International’s official League Age Calculator rather than simply using their child’s current age.

IS YOUR PLAYER ELIGIBLE FOR COMPTON LITTLE LEAGUE?
Residence or School Attendance Can Establish Eligibility
In addition to meeting the appropriate League Age requirements, players must meet Little League eligibility requirements to participate in Compton Little League.
For many players, eligibility can be established in one of two ways:
RESIDENCE ELIGIBILITY
A player is eligible if their residence is located within Compton Little League’s approved league boundaries.
Families using residence to establish eligibility should be prepared to provide the documentation required under Little League’s current residency requirements.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY
Living within the Compton Little League boundary is not the only way a player can qualify. A player may also establish eligibility through school attendance if the school where the player regularly attends classes is physically located within the League’s approved boundary, even if their residence is outside the league boundary.
This includes public, charter, private, and religious schools located within the Compton Little League boundary. Families using school attendance to establish eligibility are required to have the appropriate school official verify the player’s enrollment and attendance.
Home schools, online or cyber schools, sports academies, preschools, and after-school programs do not establish school-attendance eligibility.

OTHER ELIGIBILITY PATHWAYS
Little League® International establishes different eligibility requirements depending on a player's League Age. In addition to residence and school attendance, certain players may qualify under the following provisions.
LEAGUE AGE 4–7 — FAMILY CHOICE
Players League Age 4–7 may register with the Little League program of their family's choice, regardless of where they reside or attend school. This allows families outside Compton Little League's approved boundaries to enroll eligible children, subject to the divisions offered and available registration capacity.
LEAGUE AGE 8–16 — BOUNDARY REQUIREMENTS
Players League Age 8–16 generally must reside or attend a qualifying school within Compton Little League's approved boundaries, as explained above.
ELIGIBILITY EXCEPTIONS
Little League® International recognizes additional eligibility pathways that apply under specific circumstances:
1. SIBLING ELIGIBILITY — AVAILABLE BEGINNING WITH THE 2027 SEASON
An older sibling, League Age 8–16, may qualify through a younger sibling, League Age 4–7, who participates in Compton Little League under the League Choice provision. This eligibility pathway will become available to qualifying families beginning with the 2028 season, subject to Little League® International's requirements.
2. PREVIOUSLY ESTABLISHED ELIGIBILITY — RELEVANT IN FUTURE SEASONS
Certain players who previously qualified through residence or school attendance may retain eligibility after moving, changing schools, or a league boundary change, subject to Little League® International's requirements.
Because Compton Little League is restarting after several years of inactivity, this provision generally will not apply to new players entering the program for the 2027 season. It will become relevant in subsequent seasons.
3. CONTINUOUS PARTICIPATION — NOT APPLICABLE TO CLL'S RESTART
Players who join Compton Little League at League Age 7 or younger may establish continuous participation eligibility for future seasons, provided their participation remains uninterrupted and all applicable Little League® requirements are satisfied.
(Because Compton Little League was dormant for several years before its 2026 reactivation, uninterrupted participation during those inactive years cannot be established. This exception therefore does not apply to CLL's initial returning players in 2027.)
SPECIAL WAIVERS
In exceptional circumstances, Compton Little League may submit an eligibility waiver request for consideration under Little League® International's established procedures. Approval is determined by the appropriate Little League authorities and is not guaranteed.

COMPTON LITTLE LEAGUE BOUNDARY
Our League Boundary Has Been Approved
Compton Little League’s geographic boundary has been approved as part of the league’s chartering process.
The official boundary map will be posted in this section of our website as soon as it becomes available for publication. Once posted, families will be able to use the map to help determine whether their home or child’s school is located within the Compton Little League area.

PROOF OF AGE
Have an acceptable document available that verifies your child’s date of birth.
PROOF OF RESIDENCE
If your player qualifies through residence, be prepared to provide the documentation required under Little League’s current residency requirements.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
If your player qualifies through school attendance, be prepared to provide the required School Enrollment Form or other applicable school documentation.
