GET INVOLVED WITH COMPTON LITTLE LEAGUE
It Takes a Community to Build a League
Compton Little League is built by more than the players who take the field. It takes coaches, umpires, parents, volunteers and community members working together to create a positive experience for Compton’s young people.
There are many ways to help. Some roles involve working directly with players, while others help prepare fields, keep games running, support teams, assist families or handle the many behind-the-scenes responsibilities that make a Little League season possible.
You do not need to be a baseball or softball expert to make a difference. Many volunteer roles can be learned with training, guidance and a willingness to help.
Whether you can commit to an entire season or contribute in another capacity, Compton Little League welcomes people who want to give their time, share their skills and help build something meaningful for our community.
COACHES & MANAGERS
Help Players Learn, Grow and Love the Game
Coaches and managers are among the most important people in a young player's Little League experience. They teach the fundamentals of baseball and softball, organize practices and games, encourage teamwork and sportsmanship, and help create an environment where players can develop with confidence.
You do not have to be a former professional player or an expert coach to get involved. What matters most is a willingness to work with young people, learn, prepare and provide players with a positive experience.
Compton Little League welcomes adults interested in serving as team managers, coaches and assistant coaches. Training and Little League educational resources are available to help volunteers understand the game, their responsibilities and the standards expected when working with young players.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Anyone selected for a regular Little League volunteer role must complete the required volunteer process before beginning their duties. Little League requires an annual Volunteer Application and background check for managers, coaches and other regular volunteers who have repetitive access to or contact with players.
Once our Sports Connect account is activated, CLL will use the Sports Connect/JDP integration so volunteer registration and initiation of background checks will be handled through the Little League-approved registration system.
Volunteers completing a background check must also complete Little League Abuse Awareness Training annually.

Managers are also responsible for helping ensure that team activities are conducted in accordance with Compton Little League and Little League rules, safety requirements and standards of sportsmanship.
INTERESTED IN MANAGING A TEAM?
Individuals interested in serving as a team manager should complete the CLL volunteer application when volunteer registration opens. UMPIRES
Learn the Rules. Call the Game. Represent Compton.
Umpires play an essential role in Little League Baseball and Softball. They help provide a fair, safe and well-managed game while teaching players—through their example—the importance of rules, respect and good sportsmanship.
You do not need previous umpiring experience to get involved. Compton Little League welcomes adults who are interested in learning the game and serving their community. Training and educational resources are available to help new and experienced umpires develop their knowledge, positioning, mechanics and game-management skills.
Umpiring can also provide an opportunity for young people, including current and former players, to deepen their knowledge of the game, develop confidence and leadership skills, and begin learning how to officiate in an appropriate and supervised environment.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Adults serving as regular Little League volunteers must complete the applicable volunteer requirements, including the annual Volunteer Application, background check and Abuse Awareness Training.
Once our Sports Connect account is activated, CLL will use the Sports Connect/JDP integration so volunteer registration and initiation of background checks will be handled through the Little League-approved registration system.
Little League also provides umpire-specific education and development resources. The Little League Umpire Registry is free and provides access to training materials, webinars, clinic information and other resources for umpires.
